This page describes what the site actually does today, measured from the running site rather than copied from a template. Where a practice is undecided, it says so instead of guessing.

What this site does not do

• No advertising network. No ad tags, no retargeting, no audience sharing. The analytics described below is not connected to any advertising product.
• No Tag Manager, no Meta pixel, no session recorder, no A/B testing tool. Nothing replays your visit or shows you a different page from anyone else.
• No account system. There is nothing to sign into, so there is no profile to build.
• No IP address stored with your clicks. See below.

What the server records

Like any web server, ours writes access logs — the page requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string, and the connecting IP address. These are ordinary operational logs used to keep the site up and to investigate abuse.

We keep these only as long as is reasonably necessary for those purposes and for any applicable obligations. We are deliberately not quoting a fixed number of days here, because no automatic deletion schedule is currently configured and publishing a period we do not actually enforce would be exactly the kind of unverifiable claim this site exists to call out. If and when a retention period is set, this page will state it.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4. It loads a script from Google and sets cookies beginning _ga in your browser, which is how one visit is told apart from the next. That data goes to Google and is held by Google under their terms, not ours.

What it collects, in plain terms:

• The pages you open on this site, in order, and how long you stay.
• How you arrived - a search engine, another site, or directly.
• Your device type, browser, operating system and screen size.
• Your IP address, which Google uses to derive an approximate location. Google's documentation states IP addresses are not logged or stored for EU traffic.
• Some interactions automatically, because Google's enhanced measurement is switched on: how far down a page you scroll, and which outbound links you click - including links to retailers.

Why: to see how much traffic the site gets, which comparisons are actually read, and whether pages load and perform properly. We do not use it for advertising. There is no remarketing, no audience sharing, no ad-network connection, and nothing on this site is personalised to you.

Our own click tracking is separate and still runs. The /go/ measurement described below is ours, server-side, and independent of Google - it sets no cookies and involves no third party. Google Analytics does not replace it. The practical consequence is that clicking a retailer link is recorded twice, in two places: once by us with no cookie and no stored IP address, and once by Google as an outbound click, subject to everything on this page.

The site also keeps its own server-side count of page requests. That measurement sets no cookies, involves no third party, and stores your IP address only in masked form - the last part is discarded before the record is written, so it cannot be traced back to you.

You can refuse it. Any browser setting or extension that blocks Google Analytics will stop it loading, and nothing here breaks or behaves differently if you do - there is no wall, no prompt, and no reduced version of the page. Google publish an opt-out browser add-on, and their account of how they use data from sites that use their services.

What an affiliate click records

When you click a link that goes through /go/, we record: which product the link was for, which page and position it was on, the time, your browser's user-agent and referring page, and a short burst key used to spot automated traffic.

We keep this to tell which comparisons genuinely help people. It is not sold, shared, or used to build a profile.

Who else sees your visit

Three third parties are involved in loading a page, and you should know about all of them:

• Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com, google-analytics.com). Described in full under Analytics above. Google receives your IP address, the page you are on, and the referring page.
• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). The typefaces are fetched from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. We do not send them anything else, and we receive nothing back.
• The retailer you click through to. Once you follow an affiliate link you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. They will typically set their own cookies.

Forms on this site

The newsletter sign-up and the search box are disabled. They cannot be submitted, nothing is transmitted, and no email addresses are being collected at all. They are shown as unavailable rather than removed, because they are coming.

Before the newsletter is switched on, this page will be updated first — naming the service that will receive subscriber addresses, and saying what happens to yours. We will not start collecting addresses and document it afterwards.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights and how to reach us

You can ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. What we hold ourselves is minimal - no account, no email address, and no IP address stored against a click - so in most cases there is little on our side to retrieve. The one exception is Google Analytics: that data sits with Google, under their controls, and the reliable way to stop it is to block the script in your browser rather than to ask us afterwards. Ask us anyway and we will tell you honestly what exists and what we can and cannot reach.

Changes to this page

When the site's behaviour changes — a newsletter provider added, an analytics tool adopted, a retention schedule configured — this page is updated before the change goes live, not after. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
